The Moodle grade book and SLOs

CIS110 Grading

It is very important for you to know how this course is graded.
Did you read in Getting Started my Teaching Philosophy and rules 1 & 2?
This is a supplement to what you are to read in the Course Syllabus.

Course grading

The letter grade will start the semester as an "F" and move toward an "A" as you complete assignments and add points to the grade book. Until you have at least 600 or more points your grade is an "F".

To see your grade click on Grade Book Icon Grades in the Administration box on theright of your Moodle page.
You will then see your grade book. You can scroll down to see your grades and any comments I have made.
They are arranged in assignment date order. Click HERE to see the Grading Rubrics for the Skills for Success text.

What are Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)?
How do they work?

Sometimes this video will not run from the GTCC Moodle site, sorry.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for CIS110

There are five (5) Required Student Learning Outcomes for this course.
You MUST PASS EACH outcome to pass the course regardless of your total course points.
Minimum passing for a SLO is 60% - equal to a letter grade of "D".

The five (5) SLOs are:
#1 Create or edit a Word document based on specifications presented with a minimum score of 60%.
#2 Create or edit an Excel spreadsheet based on specifications presented with a minimum score of 60%.
#3 Create or edit a PowerPoint presentation based on specifications presented with a minimum score of 60%.
#4 Explain Operating System, files, and devices in labs and course assignments with a minimum score of 60%.
#5 Explain Software and the Internet in labs and course assignments with a minimum score of 60%.

So, for example: if you earned total course points of 725 but earned less than 60% for any assignments for Excel (SLO #2), your course grade would be an "F". You MUST earn a minimum grade of 60% (a "D") on at least one assignment in EACH of the five (5) SLOs to earn a passing grade in the course.
